West Nile Virus: Detected in Kearny Kearny NJ, September 9, 2003: Mayor Alberto Santos announced at the Kearny Town Meeting that there were three reported positive findings of the West Nile Virus in birds in Kearny. One of the sites was on Passaic Avenue with the border of North Arlington. There presently are no reported cases of the virus effecting any residents. The West Nile Virus is a serious disease.
