September 13, 2009 (Kearny, New Jersey) A New York Times story on an art exhibit entitled "A Journey from Ancient Times: Peruvians in New Jersey" mentioned the West Hudson Peruvian community. The exhibit runs from September 16 through December 31, 2009 at the Newark Public Library.

For more information about the exhibit click here . There is also an opening reception on Thursday at the Newark Public Library starting at 6 p.m. Of interest keynote speaker Dr. Carlos I. López Cano Vieira, an international lecturer and professor at Portugal's Algarve University. The Peruvian community has enriched the fabric of the West Hudson Community.  Recently, the Peruvian community lost one of its members in the tragic murder of Jeweler Xavier Egoavail.
